Starkville Florist to Decorate Governor’s Mansion for Christmas
JACKSON, MELLE. (WCBI) – A florist in northeast Mississippi will decorate the governor’s mansion for Christmas.
Allison Siddall and Hannah Krapac Wamsley had seen pictures of the bedrooms at the Governor’s Mansion, but being there in person gave them a better idea of how they would decorate each room.
Siddall is the owner of the Starkville-based State Floral, which was named the winner of this year’s “Christmas at the Mansion”. competition.
“First Lady Elee called me, and I was waiting for a customer and she called the store, I was like ‘Oh my God’, and I was really surprised, but super excited and honored that they choose our proposal, ”Siddall said. .
Two lounges, four bedrooms and the exterior of the historic mansion will be decorated as part of “Christmas at the manor”.
First Lady Elee Reeves came up with the idea for ‘Christmas at the Mansion’ and this year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Children and the Magic They Bring to Christmas’.
“Kids make Christmas more fun and definitely having three daughters, the excitement of opening Christmas presents and stuff, it’s a really special day for everyone, and you’re right, the real meaning of Christmas is about the birth of our Savior and I think this year’s Christmas decorations will feature a part of it as well, ”said Reeves.
“Jesus’ birthday will be a themed room, and we have things the kids love, opening Christmas presents, baking Christmas cookies, all of those types of things will be incorporated into the different rooms, and then with cute ribbons, ornaments and things to make it all special, ”Siddall said.
Children will also be invited to make ornaments and send them to be displayed at the mansion.
Wamsley says she is delighted her boss has been chosen for the great honor.
“She is such a kind and caring soul, and you couldn’t ask for someone more wonderful to decorate this place, especially when it is focused on the kids,” Wamsley said.
Allison and Hannah will be very busy over the next month getting everything ready. And then, friends, family and volunteers will get to work the day after Thanksgiving, decorating for “Christmas at the Mansion.”
Candlelight tours are scheduled for December 3. For more information on tours and how kids can send in their ornaments to display them, visit First Lady Elee Reeves’ Facebook page. You can also check out his Instagram and Twitter pages.
