A man bleeding from his head – that was the identifying feature that linked the suspect of a robbery at a flower shop to an attempted theft of beer from a neighborhood Walmart market on Wednesday night.

At 5:34 p.m., a Flowers by HP Papadopoulos employee in the 1500 block of Coffee Road called 911 to report that it had been stolen.

She told police that a man with bleeding from his head demanded money and threatened to shoot her, Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves said. The suspect waved his belt but never showed a handgun.

He took some money from the cash register and was last seen walking south towards the Walmart Neighborhood Market about a block away.

At 5:41 p.m., the dispatcher received a call indicating that an intoxicated man with bleeding from his head was attempting to steal beer from the market.

Officers attended the store, where they apprehended Kevin Dickerson, 27, in the parking lot.

Dickerson had over $ 200 in cash, which is the amount that would have been taken from the florist.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal threats. It is not known how he suffered the head injury.
