A freelance village florist has been crowned one of the UK’s best after being accepted into an exclusive and prestigious guide for flower sellers and arrangers.

Kerry Thomas, of Mad Hatter Floral Design in Aldermaston, has been named a member of the Good Florist Guide, the gold standard for floristry in this country and the only merit-based industry guide in the world.

Ms Thomas set up the business in Beenham in 2019 and moved it to Aldermaston in February.

She said: “The move has been a great success and we hope consumers will continue to want to buy local and use us.

“We are delighted to be accepted into the Good Florist Guide.

“We are passionate about the flowers, the design, the quality and the service we provide to each of our customers, so it’s great to have that recognized.

“For us, it’s the icing on the cake.”

To be accepted into the guide, florists must undergo a rigorous evaluation process before being approved and invited to join.

Mad Hatter Floral Design has submitted a detailed description of their floristry business, including the range available and services offered along with images of their business premises, design work, team and even their delivery vehicle.

Ms Thomas also said: “What is special about our business is that we specialize in growing our own flowers and sourcing local where we can.

“I wanted to try to prove that we can be self-sufficient and supply UK flowers where possible.

“We also turn all our green waste into compost for reuse elsewhere.”
